Into the Fire: Bronze Patina Demo

During this 45 minute start-to-finish live patina demo, we’ll cover the basics of the bronze casting process. Colin will transform our newest bronze Talisman skull designs – Bobcat and Fox – plus a “Handling” from raw to finished bronze. He’ll show how all those cool colors are created using heat and chemicals. Transitions in color, layering and creating various patterns will be demonstrated.

How to Paint an Optical Illusion

James Gurney

James Gurney shows how to paint an optical illusion in acrylic using gradients to fool the eye. The cylinder is covered with a checkerboard of light and dark squares arranged so that the dark square in light is the same paint mixture as the light square in shadow. The diagram demonstrates how our visual system uses context cues to override the raw information coming from our eyes.
